Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil have announced plans to play Derby venue The Flowerpot as part of their 2020 spring tour.
The Toronto-based group gained popularity and new fans in the UK with 2008 theatrical documentary, “Anvil: The Story Of Anvil”, which is currently available on Netflix.
The group was formed in 1978 by childhood friends, guitarist/vocalist Steve “Lips” Kudlow and drummer Robb Reiner and are considered to have been an influence on many metal bands, including Metallica, Megadeath, Slayer and Anthrax.
Though initially a four-piece band, ANVIL’s current lineup includes Kudlow, Reiner and bassist Chris Robertson.
The band will play Flowerpot in Derby on March 5 to promote their new album, which is scheduled for an early 2020 release.
